Today Rose Lee finally completed her 2100 mile trip from Bradenton Florida to Halifax, Nova Scotia unscathed. WE have sold our house and have an apartment next to the Yacht Club and wernt expecting Rose Lee until the following day. The Kids were over visiting and I was on the deck BBQing when I saw a tractor trailer pull in with a great big sailboat, wait a minute thats our boat. I shouted to everyone to come out on the deck to see, The last time I was this excited was during the birth of our children, wow! Well Joyce and I were so excited we were off and running (NO TIME FOR A CAR) to the club next door. The burgers got burnt that night:) After so many years of planning, hoping and dreaming our plans were finally becoming a reality . Andrews trucking were excellent to deal with, they kept us informed and the offloading went very smooth. Great!

Wow Rose Lee is finally in the water and we just have a few more projects before we can go sailing. Rig and rewire the mast and replace a few windows that are leaking. The big main salon windows were original and had some uv crazing and had begun to leak. One call to the Catalina factory had four windows in the mail the next day. I wasn't entirely sure how complex this job was so I went back to the owners site and did some research. Jim W. seemed to be the guy to talk to as he had assisted several owners/friends with their windows. I emailed Jim to find out if he had the steps documented for removing and replacing the windows. Jim's response was when are you replacing them, I,ll fly up and give you a hand...... I was blown away and true to his word Jim flew in and spent a few days with me in Nova Scotia replacing the windows. While Jim was there we chatted constantly and I began to learn what a great group of people Joyce and I had become associated with when we joined the Catalina 470 owners group, Awesome!!!!!I Thanks again Jim! The mast went up without issue and we are finally ready to really get to know Rose Lee and can,t wait to get sailing. Winter went by surprisingly quick and we continued to work through the list required before launching. The boat was a bit faded so I decided to compound and wax the entire boat. Compounding is a bit of an art, however by the time you finnish a 50' sailboat you will become an artist. 60 hours later the hull looked like new.
