After our 1st full nights sleep in a week we woke up nice and refreshed to a beautiful Bermuda morning, the bright colors of the buildings and the palm trees swaying in the breeze what a scene, wow. Once we had a coffee and a few refreshments we hauled up our anchor and headed over to Captain Smokes Marina where Grant had called ahead and made arrangements for us to come along side their sea wall. You can see Vagrant in the background with the dark blue hull. The norm here is to grab a small white mooring where you run a bow line and then you tie your stern off to the wall. The marina then lowers a long plank which you tie onto your stern. Walking the plank after a night on the town can be pretty entertaining for your neighbors. The marina is pretty basic with a 150' sea wall, a few picnic tables with a washroom and shower in the little blue building on the right. They also have water and power, so everything you need and a short walk to town for about 40usd a night. I couldn't resist the water so I jumped in and went snorkeling around the boat, the water was really warm with lots of sea life. After my swim I headed for the my 1st shower in six days, this is when I realized there is a heaven which is located inside a blue building at Capt. Smokes wow that shower felt good. We spent a bit of time sorting out the boat and hanging out wet gear to dry and airing out everything, of course these projects were fueled by cold beer since we now had shore power and a nice cold fridge:) Once we were all cleaned up we decided a walk up town and a visit to the famous White Horse tavern was in order. The tavern previously Esten House was built in the mid 1700's and became the White Horse Tavern in the 1930's. We had a great long lunch there where we ran into friends who also sailed from NS and our gathering soon evolved into a party and moved from the deck to the pub. The pub is a gathering spot for sailing crews on there way down south so needless to say we had a great time telling stories and celebrating our trip. To be honest after the White Horse we should have gone directly back to the boat but I thought it would be a good idea to stop half way back at a restaurant and bar called "Wahoo's". At our new location the party kicked in to high gear and we became Wahoo celebrities, with everyone crowded around our table and then the dancing started. Its get's a little hazy from here but we all made it safely back to the boat with only a few minor injuries. This was an epic 1st day in Bermuda!!!!!!
