I wilSorry I haven't posted anything since the spring but this summer has been a bit crazy. We started off our summer by purchasing a little house down in Lahave. With the fixing up and the final closing for the sale we spent the 1st part of the summer working on the house. We did take the boat down to Lahave and used it as a base to work from so we did get an opportunity to enjoy Rose Lee. We also worked in a few sails between Halifax and Mahone bay which were fantastic as always. Our summer was capped off by our participation int the annual Bean crock harbour race which was great fun with our friends. This year the weather was perfect. The main reason we didn't sail too much was to allow me to save my vacation for November. My friend Grant is taking his boat to the BVI's and offered me a spot as crew. I couldn't resist such a great opportunity to get some offshore experience with such an skilled Captain and crew who also happen to be great friends. We are hoping to depart Tuesday Oct 25th around noon or possibly the next morning depending on seat state and wind. Our course will take us directly from Halifax to Bermuda and after a brief layover to get refreshed we will continue on to Jost Van Dyke BVI. The boat is a Morgan 37 and the crew will consist of Grant skipper (very experienced offshore sailor) Jim (very experienced offshore sailor who has sailed with Grant a great deal) Stuart (some offshore experience with Grant) and Me (lots of coastal sailing but no offshore experience). I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit nervous about the trip but this is the way we grow by pushing ourselves. Let the adventure begin:) I will keep you up to date when I have wi fi.
