The crazy/great Brits we met

One evening we were sitting around the West Point bar chatting and I noticed three young Brits talking about soccer and I jokingly said you guys must be talking about hockey and that was the start of a friendship. Andrew, Steven and Jason had all met in the military and Steve was still in, but the other guys had moved on to different careers (Jason was a prison guard). After hanging out for the evening they suggested a sail would be a good thing so we agreed and said we would check weather etc... A few days later we agreed Saturday was go day and I picked up Steve, Andrew and Jason at the dock. You know its going to be a good trip when they show up with 48 beer. We had a fantastic day got some decent sailing in and we anchored over in deep bay where the boys dived on the wreck. They were attacked by jumping fish which hit them in the face. What a fun day with some great people. We met up a few more times with these young guys and their entourage. We really enjoyed meeting everyone including Nigel and Joanne and the great couple who were with them. Brits are a lot like Canadians very crazy sense of humour.

Antigua Race week

Fun! Fun! Fun!
Wow race week is really nice, the 1st week is the classic yacht regatta followed by the real racers the following week. The classic yacht regatta was quite the spectacle with everything from huge wooden schooners to pretty small classic boats. There were awards and classes for everything. Race winners, best classic and spirit of tradition a new boat built like a classic. The week ended with a parade of sail inside English harbour, wow what a sight. During the week we visited Shirley heights look off and took in the sights from there. The next week involved modern racing boats from very big to very small 30'. Race week involved 160 boats form 30 countries. We watched a few of the races but were normally at the yacht club when the boats came which was pretty cool. Lots of excitement there was even a charter class where people charted boats just for race week, neat aye.

Deshaies to Jolly Harbour, Antigua, West Indies

Since we had a 45 mile passage planned today we were underway by 0630 hrs. The weather was perfect again and we had great sailing condition and were at our destination by 1500 hrs. We went in and cleared at the customs dock then fueled and watered and were anchored by about 1630 hrs. I think we set a personal record for fastest passage. Getting back to Jolly is like coming home and we were pretty excited to get in and catch up with all of our friends. Awesome being home!!!

Saintes to Deshaies

W dad a nice sail up to Deshaies, which is only about 30 miles so we a pretty easy day. The weather was perfect and we made excellent time getting into our destination around 1500hrs. We did beat around a bit looking for the right spot to anchor it was a bit crowded and I was a bit paranoid after having a bad experience here before, so I fussed until I felt good. Joyce was very patient. We didn't get off the boat since we had our dinghy on deck and were leaving the next morning so we chilled in the cockpit with some french wine and supper on the boat, there are worse ways to spend the evening:)
