We flew back to Nova Scotia on June 5th and the summer has flown by. WE stayed with our daughter and our three grand kids which was surprisingly good. WE will stay for |Christmas and are flying back to Antigua on December 28th. All reports say the boat had faired well with on minor hatch leak during the last storm but Edwin fixed it. We are excited to get back and really enjoyed our time with friends and family here in The Maritime,s a very nice balance. I will update when we get back to the boat. Chow for now.
Wow time fly's when your having fun. We haven,t moved to much since arriving back in Antigua at the end of March, but I guess that's the great thing about cruising, you stay where ever you want for as long as you want and move when you need a change. I think I mentioned earlier that we decided to leave our boat in the Caribbean for hurricane season, after checking several marinas in the caribbean we settled on North sound marina right here in Antigua. We were super impressed with the yard and staff and feel Rose Lee will be in good hands while we are back in NS. In this marina the entire lot has a base of 10" reinforced concrete with anchors to secure boats with hurricane straps. In addition all jack stands are welded together vs. chains so there is no movement. Along with storage we required extra insurance to stay in a hurricane area, after several quotes we found Anjo's to be very good, however Our Company Cowen came through and offered to cover us. We have started to prepare the boat. In our spare time we are making all kinds of friends and meeting other folks who are storing their boats here as well so life is good. We have a nice couple who are going to visit the boat each month or after bad weather to ensure evrything is good no leaks or rodents etc..
One evening we were sitting around the West Point bar chatting and I noticed three young Brits talking about soccer and I jokingly said you guys must be talking about hockey and that was the start of a friendship. Andrew, Steven and Jason had all met in the military and Steve was still in, but the other guys had moved on to different careers (Jason was a prison guard). After hanging out for the evening they suggested a sail would be a good thing so we agreed and said we would check weather etc... A few days later we agreed Saturday was go day and I picked up Steve, Andrew and Jason at the dock. You know its going to be a good trip when they show up with 48 beer. We had a fantastic day got some decent sailing in and we anchored over in deep bay where the boys dived on the wreck. They were attacked by jumping fish which hit them in the face. What a fun day with some great people. We met up a few more times with these young guys and their entourage. We really enjoyed meeting everyone including Nigel and Joanne and the great couple who were with them. Brits are a lot like Canadians very crazy sense of humour.
Fun! Fun! Fun!
