This cruising thing is pretty addictive and we seem to be acclimatizing quite well. Joyce and I have been getting into a routine starting with a nice walk after coffee around the town of Baddeck Its still Regatta week here so there is lots to see and where we are anchored we see all of the racers coming and going. We had a pretty relaxing day after our walk and hung around the boat until we headed up to the Yello Cello for a bite of lunch which was delicious. With lunch and a bit of shopping out of the way we went back to the boat to watch the racers come in. They had a severe thunder storm watch in effect so we battened down the hatches and got the motor ready just in case we started dragging winds were forecast for 35 in the squalls. We got a bit of rain but that was it so we got back in our dinghy and headed in town to check out some entertainment. Our original plan was to check out karaoke at the legion but that wasn't until the 8th, so we settled in at the Thistledown Pub and met a few nice people and had a great evening of live entertainment and laughs. Also on our dinghy ride we met John and Anne on board Volunteer. John said hello as we were putting by so we stopped and had a quick chat since we had seen his boat in Shelburne as well. Hi boat looked like a brand ne j44 and we were pretty surprised when he told us his boat was called "Volunteer" for all of the people who helped when they built her from scratch I wish I had of taken a picture, it was beautiful. They had come up from Connecticut for the summer and would soon be heading back home. We finished off our evening on the boat listening to the party at the Yacht club, the racers might be a bit seedy tomorrow:) |
